Dear Philips Heart to Hands team,
I am Wendy Youmans, also known as Wyn Youmans, a proud registered dental hygienist in Georgia for twenty-three years, and I am nominating myself for the Heart to Hands Award. After overcoming a Lupus crisis as well as chronic pain from cervical and lumbar spine deterioration, I’ve pivoted my purpose into bridging the gap between dental care and health care by sharing natural options for achieving wellness. I’ve become a wellness educator, prevention specialist, and certified functional nutrition coach to help educate others about the importance of proper hydration, nutrition, exercise, vitamins, herbs, and supplements as studied by the National Institute of Health. I also started a nonprofit 501(c)(3), Youmans Health Advocacy, to help reduce health disparities and raise awareness about natural options to alleviate pain, boost immunity, reduce anxiety & stress, improve sleep, lower blood pressure, and manage blood sugar levels, as well as dental health. Since 2018, I’ve been providing wellness seminars and webinars for foster care communiti
es, church organizations, dental offices, and other business organizations for worksite wellness in GA, NC, TN, and VA. In 2021, I produced a wellness show called WynsDay Wellness with episodes on various wellness topics. Recently, I received training in Galvanic Skin Response testing to offer biometric education for dental patients and participants in our wellness seminars and programs. In 2026, I will also plan to offer Raman Spectroscopy, including carotenoid skin testing that measures the nutritional health of the skin. I would enjoy the opportunity to raise more awareness about my nonprofit work in the Southeast and help other dental offices expand their capacity to educate patients.
I have been happily married for over thirteen years and have enjoyed the experience of being a foster mom for seven years. During those years, I saw a need to support foster families by providing nutritional education to empower foster parents and teens. Many foster kids struggle with their emotional health, sleep, and anxiety. This inspired me to support the Department of Family and Children Services of GA and the Foster Parent Association of Cobb County, GA with educational webinars & seminars. I also tailor my seminars for women’s and men’s health prevention. Helping others understand how to implement tangible tips for daily prevention as well as early screenings can make a real difference in health outcomes.
Ultimately, wellness matters. Sharing the additional benefits of red-light therapy, sauna therapy, cryotherapy, IV vitamin hydration therapy, resonance sound therapy, cold water pool therapy, music therapy, vibration plate therapy, essential oils, and aroma therapy brings me joy. These therapies have proven beneficial for me and my quality of life. The feedback I’ve received from my dental patients, participants, friends, and family has been positive. This encourages me to continue on this path. I appreciate the opportunity to apply for the Heart to Hands Award 2026, and I hope that you will consider me a strong candidate.
Cordially,
Wendy Youmans, RDH, CFNC
