Some of the most meaningful things we create in dental hygiene cannot be held in our hands. They are confidence, trust, opportunity, and the feeling that someone believes in you. Throughout my journey, people took the time to teach me, encourage me, and see potential in me before I fully saw it in myself. Their influence helped shape who I am today… and I have made it a priority to offer that same support to others. I am submitting this video highlighting our partnership with the University of South Dakota because it represents something close to my heart: helping students see a future for themselves in our profession. Welcoming them into our offices gives us an opportunity to connect their education with practice, answer questions, model compassionate care, and help them feel that they belong. That commitment continues beyond graduation. Whether I am supporting a new hygienist, mentoring a team member, or encouraging someone in another role within our offices, my hope is to help them recognize their value and the impact they can make. The kindness and guidance we give one person can carry forward into how they care for patients and support others throughout their career. To me, this is where heart becomes hands… when sincere intentions become everyday actions. Taking time to listen. Sharing what we know. Offering encouragement. Creating opportunities for someone to grow. We may not always get to see how far that influence reaches, but we can choose how we show up for people today. My hope is that those I support feel empowered to do the same for someone else… one student, one team member, and one patient at a time.
