I am writing to nominate myself, Sade Morel, for the Heart to Hands Award in recognition of my dedication to providing essential dental hygiene care to underserved communities. As a registered dental hygienist RDHAP with 10 years of experience, I have established a brick-and-mortar practice focused on offering affordable dental hygiene services. My mission is to ensure that individuals who face barriers to access, such as those without insurance, immigrants, and patients with disabilities to receive the care they deserve.
In my practice, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges many individuals face in accessing dental care. Many of my patients come from backgrounds where financial constraints prevent them from seeking necessary treatment. I've made it my goal to bridge this gap by providing services at a reduced cost, making dental hygiene care accessible to those who need it most. I believe that everyone deserves quality dental care, regardless of their financial situation.
In addition to my practice, I am a mobile dental hygienist. I understand that transportation can be a significant barrier for many, especially seniors and individuals living in group homes. To address this issue, I take my services directly to their homes. By providing in-home dental hygiene care, I ensure that those who are homebound or unable to travel can still receive the dental attention they require. This mobile service has been a game-changer for many of my patients, allowing them to maintain their oral health in the comfort of their own surroundings.
My passion for dental hygiene extends beyond my practice and into my community. I actively engage in outreach programs that educate people about the importance of oral health. I host workshops and informational sessions to raise awareness about preventive care, empowering individuals with the knowledge they need to take charge of their oral health. I believe that education is a powerful tool in combating oral health disparities, and I strive to inspire my fellow dental hygienists to join me in this effort.
I am committed to setting a positive example for my colleagues. I want to inspire other dental hygienists to think creatively about their roles in the community and to consider how they can make a difference in the lives of those who are often overlooked. My hope is that my work encourages others to explore alternative practices and outreach initiatives, ultimately leading to a broader impact in our profession. Receiving the Heart to Hands Award would not only be a tremendous honor but also a platform to amplify my mission. It would allow me to share my story and the stories of my patients, highlighting the importance of accessible dental care. I envision using this recognition to further inspire my peers and to advocate for greater inclusivity within the dental community.
In conclusion, I am passionate about dental hygiene and dedicated to serving my community. I believe that my efforts to provide affordable, accessible care, both in my practice and through mobile services, embody the spirit of the Heart to Hands Award. Thank you for considering my nomination. I am eager to continue my work and inspire others to join in making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.
