I graduated at the top of my class in dental hygiene school, ready to take on anything with my new skills and knowledge. But soon after starting my career, I began struggling with imposter syndrome. The demands and expectations from my doctor were high, and I started to question the very skills I thought I’d mastered. It took me about 3-4 years to feel truly confident in my role, but once I worked through those insecurities, I realized how many other hygienists were likely feeling the same way. That’s why I created BloomRDH—to ensure that newly graduated dental hygienists never feel alone, the way I once did. As an RDH myself, I truly understand the challenges and the self-doubt that can suddenly creep in after graduation, and it’s my goal to be a supportive guide for those entering into the profession. BloomRDH exists to bridge the gap between what’s learned in school and the real-world experiences that shape a hygienist’s career, and I want every new grad to feel empowered, supported, and capable of thriving in this profession.
Dental hygiene is more than a career for me; it’s a calling. I’ve always loved the connection I get to build with patients, and I find joy in helping them achieve better health. But what inspires me most is the opportunity to support new grads who are filled with passion and determination, yet may lack the confidence or real-world insight that experience brings. That’s where BloomRDH comes in. I love picking up where school leaves off, offering guidance and mentorship that helps new grads navigate challenges and grow into confident, skilled professionals.
One of the most memorable experiences in my journey with BloomRDH was working 1:1 with a new grad who entered the field excited to make a difference but soon found himself in a toxic work environment. Through no fault of his own, this environment had taken a toll on his self-confidence. Instead of feeling proud of his skills, he felt incompetent, believing he might never be “good enough” to succeed as a hygienist. We worked together to unpack these feelings and recognize that his self-worth wasn’t defined by one negative experience. He found a new workplace that values his skills and where he’s now once again loving his new career. Witnessing this transformation was incredibly rewarding; it reminded me why I created BloomRDH in the first place. Supporting him through that journey and seeing him regain his confidence was not just a coaching win but a testament to the power of mentorship in making a real difference.
Each day, I’m inspired by the new grads I work with—those who are eager to apply their freshly acquired knowledge and make a positive impact. Working full-time in education has allowed me to see firsthand the potential within these grads, and I’m continually amazed by their passion and resilience. Being able to support them as they take their first steps into the profession is an aspect of my career I never anticipated but now cherish deeply. Through a private community called The Bloom Room, on-demand videos, books, group coaching, and personalized 1:1 coaching sessions, BloomRDH offers support tailored to every new grad's needs. This allows me to blend my passion for dental hygiene with my dedication to mentoring, creating a community where no new grad has to feel lost or unsure of their abilities.
Through BloomRDH, my mission is simple: to ensure every new dental hygienist has the confidence, tools, and encouragement they need to succeed!!
